Great stuff, guy. Excellent writing. I too delved into and ultimately abandoned the word game that is western philosophy. I’ve been on the eastern path ever since. Happy to read some of your back story (jealous you got to meet Terence!) and love the topic. Excited for more Moloch!
Thanks James! Well I didn't actually meet Terence in person, we spoke on the phone though. The idea was that he appeared by video conference (RAW was there in person but we couldn't afford the flights for both him and TM). Video conferencing was right in its infancy in 1997 of course, so seemed incredibly novel. But in the end the people who were going to set it up failed us at the last minute, so we agreed that TM would just call us on the phone and we'd relay that into the hall.
But! Terence's father died right before the conference and the funeral was the day of the event, so we just accepted he couldn't do it. However, he said he was willing to talk on the phone the day before and record a message for us. So I called him and my colleague was supposed to record the call on another line. But he forgot to press record! Well at least for the first few minutes. So it went from 'live video conference' to 'some of a recorded message' lol
Anyway we somehow got away with it, mainly because RAW and the other speakers were great. And that whole incident proved that TM was a lovely man, because we weren't even paying him to do this, and he made time for some strangers in another country when he was personally grieving, so that shows the measure of him. And the talk he gave was brilliant, even though he improvised it with no notes, off the cuff and on the phone. He truly was a bard, had 'the gift of the gab', 'kissed the blarney stone', for sure.
Glad you liked my essay. It's really just setting the scene for the later stuff about even darker forces, an aperitif.
I just listened to in interview with Nassim Harriman, physicist, who has explanation for the infinity of universes and the infinitely small, what energy is etc. Whew! Makes sense to me. Check it out
yes I can't claim to understand everything or know that he's right, by any means, but his work does feel intuitively elegant and complete. maybe a physicist could point out that he's totally wrong but I suspect that a lot of what he's saying will be borne out eventually

I enjoyed hearing some of your origin story, more youthful exploits if you’re so inclined! Cliffhanger there, you got me; fascinating topic for sure!
‘I went on a reading rampage’ is so good - & so you ! I am looking forward to how myth is going to refract these layers for more facets of the story!
thanks! yes it will all go much deeper down the jolly old March hare hole soon
